Crime Victim Seeking Information

The Department of Corrections works with various partners to ensure that victims of crimes are given access to information that will not only keep them safe in the future, but also help to provide peace of mind. While DOC does not provide these services in-house, it recognizes the importance of making the services readily available to all who seek them.

Two important partnerships that help DOC provide victims with essential information are the Victim Notification Everyday (VINE) Program and the Victim Assistance section of the Metropolitan Police Department website.

VINE is an automated victim notification system that informs victims of inmate status changes, whether it is a release, facility transfer, court hearing, escape, or re-incarceration. The Office of Victim Services provides more information on victim assistance programs.
