On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, Negussie Woldermariam (45), an individual in the custody of the D.C. Department of Corrections (DOC), died at George Washington University Hospital following an extended hospitalization for ongoing treatment of complex medical conditions. Mr. Woldermariam had been hospitalized since October 23, 2025 due to pre-existing conditions. 

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
