NOTICE OF ARRESTEE DEATH AT CENTRAL CELL BLOCK

The D.C. Department of Corrections (DOC) oversees the District’s two correctional facilities—the D.C. Jail and the Correctional Treatment Facility along with the Central Cell Block (CCB) where individuals arrested and booked by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and other law enforcement agencies are held until their scheduled court appearances.

On Monday, October 23, 2023, at approximately 3:15 a.m., DOC security personnel discovered arrestee Antonio Dockery unresponsive in his cell at the CCB. Immediate on-site life saving measures were performed by staff along with the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department who responded to the scene. At approximately 4:10 a.m., Mr. Dockery was pronounced dead. The incident is currently under investigation by MPD and DOC. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. Mr. Dockery’s next of kin has been notified.
