Because of the escalating temperatures expected this week in the Washington metropolitan area, the following measures are being put in place to ensure the comfort of inmates housed at the DC Jail.
- Three or more industrial sized fans have been placed on each housing block
- Ice is being delivered to the housing blocks 4 times each day
- Temperature readings on each housing block are being taken two times each day
- Inmates with respiratory problems or other chronic medical conditions are being closely monitored by medical staff
- Ongoing work is being done on the cooling system to ensure maximum output
