DC Corrections Agency to Participate in National Wreath-Laying Ceremony

(Washington, DC) The DC Department of Corrections will take part in the Annual Wreath-Laying Ceremony on May 1, 2004, in celebration of National Correctional Employees Week.

The week of May 2-8, 2004, has been designated as National Correctional Employees Week. The week will begin with a wreath laying ceremony at the National Law Enforcement Memorial located along F Street, NW, Washington, DC, between 4th and 5th Streets at 10 am. The wreath laying is to commemorate correctional employees who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The day's events will include a drill team competition by honor guards from regional correctional agencies that comprise the Metropolitan Council of Governments (COG). Attendees will also hear remarks on the occasion from Dr. John M. Vanyur, Senior Deputy Assistant Director, Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Attendees are encouraged to use Metro for transportation. The Law Enforcement Memorial is located atop the Judiciary Square Metro stop, F Street Exit on the Red Line.
