(Washington, DC) - The District of Columbia Department of Corrections (DOC) Director Devon Brown announced the DC Jail will be on lockdown to allow for a routine facility wide security search. This activity is a standard security precaution in all correctional systems to deter and detect the presence of major contraband.
During the lockdown, normal inmate movement will cease along with non-emergency social visitations. Legal visits will continue in accordance with normal procedures. The lockdown will remain in place until the shakedown of the facility has been completed.
