Change in Visitation Schedule at DC Jail: Effective Monday, May 23, 2011

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

The DC Department of Corrections encourages inmates to maintain family and community ties by allowing visits. Inmates are allowed two (2) thirty-minute social visits per week. The visitation schedule for all inmates is based on the first letter of the last name:

  • Letters A-H (Tuesday and Thursday); Letters I-P (Wednesday and Friday); Letters Q-S (Monday and Wednesday); Letters T-Z (Monday and Friday).

Beginning on Monday, May 23, 2011, visitation hours for both the general and special population units will be from 12 noon to 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm to 8 pm.  Those wishing to visit inmates housed in the special population units will continue to make appointments by contacting Visiting Control at (202) 673-8153 or 8154.

Legal visits are permitted 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Persons under the age of 18 are not permitted to visit without a parent or legal guardian. All visitors are subject to search and persons 18 years and older must present current government issued photo identification.
