Notice of Resident Death at Local Hospital

The D.C. Department of Corrections (DOC) is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for those in our custody and care. On Monday, September 25, 2023, DOC security personnel intervened when resident Larry Watson (41), of Washington DC, became suddenly ill at the Central Detention Facility.

DOC medical personnel performed live-saving measures on site. Fire and Emergency Management Services responded to the scene and transported Mr. Watson to Washington Hospital Center, where he later died on Tuesday, September 26.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. Mr. Watson’s next of kin have been notified. Our condolences are with Mr. Watson’s family during this difficult time.
