Notice of Resident Death at Local Hospital

The DC Department of Corrections is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for those in our custody and care. On Thursday, August 17, 2023, a stabbing incident (inmate-on-inmate assault) took place at the DOC Correctional Treatment Facility. Department of Corrections staff and medical personnel provided the injured resident, Darrow Johnson (34), of Washington DC, immediate emergency medical care onsite. Fire and Emergency Management Services (FEMS) transported Mr. Johnson to MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where he later died on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

Mr. Johnson was committed, awaiting adjudication, on a charge of Murder in the second degree out of the DC Superior Court. The incident is currently under investigation by both the Metropolitan Police Department and the Department of Corrections Office of Investigative Affairs. Our condolences are with Mr. Johnson’s family during this difficult time.
