Transgender Advisory Committee (TAC)

The Department has formed a Transgender Advisory Council to serve as a link between DOC, the transgender community and its stakeholder organizations.  Members of the Transgender Advisory Council are appointed by the DOC Director, serve two year terms, and meet four times a year as a body. A designated number of membership slots are open to representatives from the transgender community and/or individuals actively involved in transgender affairs, direct service delivery, and/or advocacy. Those serving as members of the DOC Transgender Housing Committee (DOC Staff, Unity Health Care Staff, and the Transgender Community Volunteer) will also serve on the advisory council.

TAC Objectives:

  • Ensuring open communication between the Department and the transgender community
  • Dialoguing on issues/problems facing the transgender community
  • Ensuring the public is aware of the programs and services offered the transgender community.
